Rode hoofden - Red heads

Two heads in my favourite colour. The glaze was new for me and appeared to leave blank spots although the heads were complete covered by the glaze powder. Now they are wearing three layers of glaze in order to reach almost complete coverage.
The back of the heads were never made for reasons of convenience.

The making of "dr Teljer the hero"

Today a new series "the making of" starts. This time a photography project that is going to be exhibited in July 2014. Ingredients are pictures made in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands, and a newly procured Photoshop application.

The story that is going to be depicted is about a physician who lived in Jutphaas in the 19th century.

The historic figures are from old pictures (mostly postcards).
The main challenges I now face are lifelike shadows that the postcards should make (see below want I mean) and subtle edges to the figures in order to both highlight them and make them fit into the environment of the photo.

Below the first experimental results.

Dr Teljer and another inhabitant of Jutphaas in the churchyard, one of the most ancient parts of Juthpaas, nowadays a quarter of Nieuwegein:

Kerkveld where dr Teljer realised a water pump by which access to fresh and healthy water was hugely increased. Lack of clean fresh water caused many deaths in those days. Note that the water pump reflected is not original. Teljer's pump was more modest in size.

Serviesuitbreiding - Extension of set of tableware

My chic tableware which I only use when there are guests, could use some additional bowls in matching colours, but with different pattern. When all plates and bowls of this tableware are used, the tables looks somewhat too flowery.

So I selected a colour engobe that matched the peonies. The small leaves are scratched from the engobe before the first firing.

Neef van le gnome d'Amélie - Cousin of le gnome d'Amélie

Last year the cousin of le gnome d'Amélie made a journey through Nieuwegein.
His name is Wilbur Mushroom en he was looking for the love of his life.
Like the gnome in Amélie's movie he made pictures to send accross.
Pictures to show how nice the city of Nieuwegein is.
