Gouage

In 1952 Henri Matisse made a series of gouages called "Nu bleu".
This statue was made with one them in mind.

Zwart beeldje - Little black statue

A series of two.
Last week we had a white little man with a blue velvet background,
this week a black little man with same background.

Amoebeschaaltje - Amoeba bowl

The amoebas were first cut out of paper. The paper was put on the unbaked clay with water.
The bowl was decorated with engobe in one colour, including the paper amoebas.
The paper fell off when the bowl desiccated.
Which led to this effect of amoebas in and on a bowl.

Glas-in-lood Mondriaan - Stained glass Mondriaan

The division in planes is by Mondriaan, the colours are chosen by me.
And the handcraft was performed by myself as well, mostly.
Made in Tolbert.

I went to a workshop to learn more about this technique. This might get a follow-up in a much bigger work, as in a few meters wide. To replace the sansevieras on the windowsill of the living room.

En profil

The remaining art raisin from Big Mask found its destination in another garden sculpture.
Instead of styrofoam I used rockwool. An improvement.
The pedestal is a side table on its side.
Painted with yacht varnish.

Gouden lampenkap - Golden lampshade

This portrait was turned into a lamp because its back of the head fell off in the kiln. The lampshade covers up the injury.

The lampshade consists of iron band from a DIY, golden organza and garland from a store's christmas department. Put together with sewing thread and mounting adhesive.

Apelike arms - Apenarmen

Long arms prevent you from falling over.
Especially the sculptures with hands that reach the ground are very stable.

Gegrond - Firmly grounded

This statue is firmly grounded. It would want to say to you
"Bring it on! I can handle anything."

Achteroverleunend - Leaning back

This sculpture surprisingly turned black in the kiln. It would not have been a surprise if I had read the label of the clay. Nevertheless I liked the effect and decided not to glaze it.
